My Experience on Miskatonic

 

Throughout the development of Miskatonic, I focused on improving user experience by consistently iterating on the interface through the project, identified issues with clarity, iterated on the UI with feedback in mind from both playtests and teammates, created art that met the ideal aesthetics of the game, and communicated across disciplines to ensure that the final state of the visuals and design I provided were the best they could be.

I collaborated closely with the art, design, and programming teams to ensure the UI was functional, visually cohesive, and aligned with the overall game vision. Through the UI’s development, minimizing visual clutter was set as a priority so players could fully engage with the game’s map while referencing an informative HUD. The key was keeping it short and to the point, meaning balancing clarity and style was integral to its design. Alongside creating the UI’s design, I contributed a range of UI assets such as buttons with varied styles, vials, dialogue boxes, and decorative elements. All of these were tailored to support the game’s eerie theme and lovecraftian aesthetic.
